Square Connect SQ Blaster is a universal remote control accessory for your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad.

How it works

SQ Remote on your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad sends commands over your home Wi-Fi network to the SQ Blaster . SQ Blaster then converts these signals to IR control commands, which are then beamed (blasted) at your home entertainment equipment.

No more pointing your remote! SQ Blaster allows you to control your equipment from anywhere within range of your home Wi-Fi network, and any iPhone, iPod touch or iPad in your home can now be used as a remote control unit.

What does it control?

The SQ Blaster unit controls your infrared-controlled equipment, such as TV's, Music Systems, Blu-ray Players, Cable Boxes, TiVo Systems, DVD Players, etc.

Like the original remote controls units that came with your equipment, SQ Blaster sends infrared command signals to your gear telling it to switch on or off, change channel, change volume, etc.

SQ Remote on your iPhone sends commands to the SQ Blaster over your home Wi-Fi network. When these reach the blaster unit they are sent as infrared command signals to your equipment.

But will it control my gear?

We are so confident that SQ Blaster and SQ Remote will control your equipment, that we will give you your money back if it doesn't.

Can it do more?

Yes it can! The SQ Remote application that you download and install on your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, can do more than just control your TV with the blaster!

It can also control your Z-wave  lights, heating, door locks, window shades, and more when connected to a MiOS home control gateway.

The "Vera" system "from Mi Casa Verde" is a popular and simple to use home control hub, and the first MiOS system to be available, though more MiOS systems are to be released soon.

What do I need?

All you need is an SQ Blaster and the SQ Remote iPhone app from the app store.

You can use SQ Blaster as a line of sight controller where the infrared commands are beamed at your equipment across the room, or as a wired infrared controller, using extension leads allowing you to control up to six devices within a cabinet.

In certain cases you might be able to use it in both ways at the same time.

Can I have several remotes?

Of course! Just install the free SQ Remote application on any additional iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices and share your control settings between them all. You only have to set up once!

You can also have multiple SQ Blasters in the house, as each unit operates independently of the others.

As long as you are in range of your home Wi-Fi network, you can control your equipment using your SQ Blaster.

Why wood and bamboo?

We thought long and hard about how we wanted the SQ blaster to look.

This is a device that will be placed in your living space, and so needs to complement rather than contrast your furniture and living style.

We also wanted to choose a material that was ecologically friendly, and so we selected two materials from sustainable sources: cherry wood; warm and beautifully grained, and bamboo; for a lighter modern feel.

SQ Remote Lite is a free, fully featured companion iPhone application for SQ Blaster. Together with the SQ Blaster, it converts your iOS device into a remakable universal remote control for all your infrared controlled home entertainment equipment.

It includes all features and benefits that are included in SQ Remote HD including

  You can also use jumps to simplify operations within your activities. For example, set up a macro to bring up the menu for your Blu-ray player and "jump" to your menu controls. Likewise jump back to your main controls when you are finished with your menu operations.
• Channel Lists and Control Lists with Icons - Create your own lists of channels - then create sub lists for your favorites. You asked - we listened - you can now add icons to any list item in your lists. You can add these manually or you can drag and drop icons within SQ Designer from your desktop.
  List controls will also let you add Macros and Scene controls for MiOS systems.

• Built in infrared library: No searching online and downloading code sets. SQ Remote has an extensive built-in infrared code library built from 2 extensive code databases and includes many discrete codes that are used by professional installers.
• Sharing: Share your configuration with your family. With just a few key presses, all your configuration information can be passed to anyone you choose.
• Create your own control pads. In SQ Remote, control pads hold your controls. You can group your controls within each control pad in any way that makes sense to you. You can mix controls for different equipment, macros, text, and controls for your home - all within the same control pad, and you can add as many control pads as you need. Build them based on activity (like watching a movie), location or control type (for example: lighting control). You can add pre-defined groups of controls to your control pads, and then edit them.
