I found this little tidbit on the Aving Global News Network about a device in Korea that is looking to integrate a mouse, remote control and other integration devices in one. Upon closer inspection the top half of the device is the same layout with the same button icons as the Logitech Harmony 880. Could this new unit from Avago Technologies make it to the states as a new Harmony? Logitech already has a strong product line of both computer navigation devices and remote controls so the integration of the two is bound to happen sooner or later. Why not now.

Avago Technologies(www.avagotech.com) launched its an input device module ‘AMRS-2325 series’ in Korea, which combines a navigation pad module with a motion sense and interface integrated circuit (IC), AMRI-1000(an integrated circuit (IC) used in the AMRS-2325), to provide a mouse-like pointing solution. It can be used in a wide range of handheld and gaming devices, computer peripherals, and remote controls for set-top box and multi-media PC applications.
The new input device module improves the traditional linear navigation experience which is available on computer mice and other popular input devices. It offers quick and easy navigation of long email and song lists, and directional cursor movement in gaming applications.
With the capacitive sense technology incorporated into this input device solution, bare skin contact is not required for operation of the navigation pad module. As a result, users will have the added benefit of being able to operate the input device while wearing gloves, the company stressed.
The AMRS-2325 input device solution with the AMRI-1000 IC can be reconfigured to provide users with navigation experience for any active applications. For example, the user can select joystick mode for a gaming application, scrollwheel mode for phonebook or MP3 list scrolling, and 4-way switch mode for menu navigation.
